1. Who is the myBuddy APP for?

You are probably familiar with at least one of these situations:

  • Have you recently moved to study or work and would like to find social connections and discover your new city?
  • Have you been wanting to try out a new hobby for a long time, but can't find anyone in your existing circle of friends who shares your interests?
  • You can never have enough friends! Do you just want to meet new people at the best events in your city?
  • Are you running out of ideas for weekend activities and searching for events in the digital jungle is simply time-consuming?
  • Are you a bargain hunter and appreciate being able to experience activities at a reduced price?

In all these cases, the myBuddy APP is the perfect solution for you!

Our events are aimed primarily at students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 38, regardless of gender, religion and origin.

2. Which events can I find on the myBuddy APP?

For "Food lovers“ we show you the best cafes, restaurants & bars in your city! But you can also find street food festivals, wine festivals or 5-course dining in a castle at myBuddy.

Or are you more of a group "Get Active!“? From live sporting events in the stadium to stand-up paddling, bouldering halls, cooking classes, creative workshops and escape rooms, you will find a wide range of opportunities to break out of the monotony of everyday life!

Are you "Culture & Art“ Fan? Find comedy shows, cabaret, musicals, theaters, art galleries, museums, castles and gardens with us! Or how about going to the cinema instead of Netflix?

And for the “Party People“ among you, concerts and festivals are of course a must!

3. How do group matchings work?

Tired of tedious Google searches and annoying online small talk? Find the best activities in your city on the myBuddy APP and get to know new buds with similar interests based on events!

This is how our group matching works:

  1. On the Discover page of our app, select an event you'd like to attend and meet new buds. Before participating in the matching process, please make sure you actually have time and check the event's cost.
  2. You can then easily register for group matching with a click of a button and search for a group that suits you. You can also tell us your matching preferences in your profile.
  3. Currently, we only offer matching for mixed groups of 6. Once we've found a group for you, your profiles will be unlocked, and you can coordinate the details of your meeting via the group chat.

Regardless of the matching, you can also use the myBuddy APP as event inspiration for your next weekend planning.

4. What does event-based matching mean?

myBuddy is the very first APP that offers event-based matching.

Instead of swiping people, you first search for events that match your interests. You can then start a matching process by clicking the "Find Bud Group" button. We'll match you with a diverse bud group of six people who are all interested in the same event and will try to match your gender and age preferences. Once we've found a group of six for you, your profiles will be shared, and you can discuss the details of your meeting via the group chat.

Please note the following 3 points before searching for bud groups:

  • Make sure you actually have time to attend the event
  • Check the prices on the menu at cafes and bars and check if and how much the ticket price is at events. Depending on whether you can get a limited Bud advantage, you should be prepared to pay the (ticket) price
  • Please only click on "Find Bud Group" if you're really interested in meeting new buds offline at this event. Because bud matching at myBuddy is a binding appointment in the positive sense 😊
5. What does prioritized intercultural matching mean?

Our APP was created as a social innovation and is a modern and digital interpretation of the original “myBuddy FRIENDSHIP” program.

In addition to considering your interest in the same event and your age and gender preferences, we prioritize bud groups that have (sometimes) different cultural backgrounds. Therefore, we need truthful and complete information about your cultural identity. But don't worry, when you meet, you'll realize that you're different and yet so similar! And if we can't find an intercultural bud group right now, we'll also match you with people from the same culture. Because ultimately, our main goal is for you to experience the best events in your city with new buds via myBuddy!

The idea is based on the scientific contact hypothesis by Allport (1954), which essentially states that frequent contact with people from other groups is the most effective way to reduce prejudices and promote positive interaction in society. And this applies regardless of whether we are talking about different generations, cultures, religions, professional groups, etc. Due to myBuddy's DNA with a stronger focus on cultural integration, we are launching our app with a prioritized intercultural matching approach.

6. What does bud matching mean at myBuddy?

Bud matching at myBuddy means, in the positive sense, a binding appointment for an event. We save you the annoying online small talk and bring mixed groups of six together directly for great events in real life!

Accordingly, the etiquette at myBuddy also applies:

Before matching, consider whether you really have the time and want to meet new buds offline. A bud group search is a committed appointment. If something important comes up, please cancel personally in the group chat and behave as you would among buds (friends).

7. How do I contact my Bud group?

As soon as we've found a group of six for you, your profiles will be unlocked, and you can discuss the details of your meeting via the group chat. You can access the group chat after a successful group match via the respective event page.

By the way, the myBuddy team is a member of every group chat by default and is available to answer your questions at any time!

8. How do I cancel my bud group and what are the consequences?

Bud matching on myBuddy is generally a binding appointment. If something important comes up, please cancel personally in the group chat and behave as you would among buds (friends).

You can access the group chat after a successful group match via the respective event page.

We understand that things can come up for everyone. However, frequently canceling group matches isn't in keeping with the myBuddy philosophy and will result in poorer matching chances in the future.

9. What are Bud benefits (Free Ticket, Discount and Special)?

Bud benefits are limited offers from our event partners exclusively for the myBuddy community. 

There are three types of bud benefits:

  1. Free Ticket: completely free tickets for you and your buds
  2. Discount: exclusive discounts on ticket purchases for you and your buds
  3. Special: this can be a free drink, goodie bag, exclusive access to the VIP area and other specials

All three types of Bud Perks are available only through successful Bud Matches via the myBuddy app and are awarded on a first-match, first-serve basis. Learn more in question 10.

10. How are Bud benefits awarded?

The limited Bud benefits (free ticket, discount, or special offer) are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. This means that the earlier you register for an event for Bud Matching, the higher your chances of successful group matches and thus the higher your chances of benefiting from additional offers. So, with us, the early bird catches the worm! 🙂

If you've used up your Bud benefits, you can of course still search for a Bud group with us! In this case, you just need to be clear about the café's prices or event ticket prices before starting a binding matching process.

11. How do I purchase tickets and redeem Bud benefits?

If you are in a Bud Group WITH Bud Advantage , each of you will receive all the details on redeeming Bud benefits for your group 30 hours before the event. To do so, go to the respective event page in the app and click on the Bud Benefit button.

  • For free tickets, the free ticket will either appear directly in the APP or you will receive a CODE to redeem the free ticket or instructions on how to get your free ticket at the box office.
  • For discounts, you will either receive a CODE to redeem or instructions on how to use your discount at the box office.
  • Specials are usually available at the box office on site.

Please note that some Bud benefits can only be redeemed if you appear together as a complete Bud group.

If you are in a Bud Group WITHOUT Bud Advantage , each of you must arrange your own tickets on the event organizer's website. These are linked on the respective event page. Depending on the event, be sure to coordinate with your bud group in advance via the group chat so that you can, for example, buy tickets together to sit next to each other.

12. Can I use the app without matching?

The events on the myBuddy APP are usually public events that are open to everyone. You can therefore also use the myBuddy APP as event inspiration for your weekend and buy tickets for yourself and your friends.

If your friends don't have time or aren't interested in your preferred event, be sure to try Bud Matching via myBuddy! If you act quickly, you can also benefit from exclusive Bud perks!

13. Who can become an event partner?

At myBuddy, “events” are understood very broadly: concert organizers, cafés, museums, art galleries, dance schools, sports clubs, organizers of city festivals or other cultural events – the myBuddy APP offers you the perfect platform to reach young people in your city in a targeted manner.

As an event partner, you also contribute to the impact idea of the APP: with your offers, you form the basis for our event-based, prioritized intercultural matching and together we can connect tens of thousands, millions of people to new buds via the myBuddy APP! The basis for a healthy democracy.
